Keisha Cuffie

Keisha holds a BA in Political Science and Critical Race Studies, and she is currently pursuing an M.A. in Canadian Studies and Curatorial Studies at Carleton University.

Her main research interest is 19th century Black history in heritage spaces and places, and its intersection with critical children’s museology.

She is the successful author of two books,       D is for Dazzling and The Time-Keepers. Both books aim to empower young readers and fill gaps in children’s literature. She is also a curator and educator, and is the Black History Program Development Lead at Upper Canada Village.

Keisha's work centres on fostering Black belonging within heritage spaces and historical narratives. She has collaborated with schools, museums, educational institutions, archives, community organizations, and individuals to promote responsible stewardship of history, emphasizing that the stories we tell must reflect our collective experiences.

In her talk to us, she will discuss her work on the Black History Exhibit at Upper Canada Village and her passion to bring to life the black narrative in history.
