The Life and Times of Emily Murphy presented by CFUW Nepean Players: Former Mayor of Cornwall and first female Mayor of color in Ontario). Bernadette attended the University of Ottawa where she was one of only 2 black students in the law program. She began her law practice in Cornwall 36 years ago and now works part time focusing on injured workers. She ran for mayor of Cornwall in 2018 and was in office during COVID but did not complete her term as she was appointed to the Senate. Water Wisdom: Lessons from Mzuzu and Ottawa
Dr. Kwaku Kusi-Appiah, President & CEO, Environment Stewardship Solutions (ESS) shared insights from his research on water access in marginalized communities, highlighting the importance of community-led initiatives, water conservation, and sustainable management. The talk also touched on the experiences of Indigenous communities in Canada and the need for reconciliation and co-management of water resources. An opportunity to learn about the valuable lessons that can be applied to our own water management practices and join the conversation on how we can work together to ensure a more water-secure future. |

Special evening "Mother & Daughter Tea" event extended to Mothers, Daughters, and Friends. Member Speaker Theresa Peluso examined how devolving responsibility for waste management from the government to producers could present real dangers to our environment. Member Speakers - Tricia Carran and Muriel Richards gave an informative and fascinating overview of their trip to Northern Quebec and the Arctic Circle Learn about our tree-planting initiative. Silent Auction and Hot Lunch catered and served at The Bradley Retirement Living Opportunity to get together with old friends and new members; find out about Interest Groups and sign up. |
