CFUW (formerly Canadian Federation of University Women), is an international organization of women with national, provincial, and local chapters. Founded in 1919 to promote understanding and friendship among university women and through club meetings, to encourage individual efforts toward intellectual development, the advancement of education, art, science, literature and social reform, and to stimulate the interest of university women in public affairs. While many members have graduated from post-secondary educational institutions, it is not necessary to have a university degree to join. 

CFUW is affiliated with Graduate Women International (GWI), formerly known as the International Federation of University Women (IFUW), founded in 1919 after the first World War by women graduates from Canada, Great Britain and the Unites States of America as a means of encouraging international understanding and to help prevent future wars.

CFUW/Kanata (CFUW/Kanata) was founded on July 21, 1995 with 62 charter members. It is one of about 95 clubs across Canada with approximately 6,500 member

The Kanata chapter members work together to connect women in our community, to share friendship, knowledge, resources, and networks in order to strengthen communities locally and globally. 

Scholarships:

We support a Scholarship Trust through a variety of fund-raising activities each year, The Scholarship Trust disburses funds to local high school graduates who are moving on to post-secondary education.

Meetings:

Our general meetings are held monthly, from September through May. Meetings feature speakers on a variety of topical issues. Guests are welcome to attend our meetings and any woman who embraces our philosophy and goals is welcome to join us.
