DO HUMAN RIGHTS REALLY MATTER?

Is it true that the cause for Human Rights is only relevant in developing countries?

That is not true. Right here in Canada, for example, Indigenous girls and women disappear and authorities are not taking their disappearances or murders seriously. Today, in the USA, human rights are sometimes being completely ignored.

Kathy Bose is a retired writer/editor who worked for government and non-profit organizations including The Red Cross, CIDA, and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. She also spent a lot of time in India, travelling through villages and speaking to women about the frustrations of their daily lives.

Kathy believes everyone deserves to understand how human rights shape daily life. Currently, as a human rights consultant in Ottawa, she supports learners through poetic storytelling and relatable guidance that builds confidence in everyday decisions. This facilitates learning that feels human, practical, memorable, and transformative. 

She will support her presentation by reading briefly from her book, Rising Up From The Underground: Poetry About Human Rights Abuses.
