Deepfakes and Online Impersonation

Suzie Dunn, a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law,  is completing her doctoral studies there. She was called to the Bar in 2016.

Suzie's research centers on the intersection of gender, equality, technology, and the law. Specifically, her focus is on technology-facilitated violence which includes the non-consensual distribution of intimate images, deepfakes, and impersonation in digital spaces. Suzie is also a research assistant with the eQuality Project where she is developing a data base on criminal law cases related to technology-facilitated violence.

As a Senior Fellow with CIGI, (Centre for International Governance Innovation) she is working in the Global South - areas that are technically and socially less-developed - and is a member of LEAF’s Technology-Facilitated Violence Project.

Suzie will be sharing with us an overview of her area of interest, who is most affected by it, what is the law,  and what organizations have resources for women.
