Welcome from our Co-Presidents

We are pleased that you are taking some time to check out our website. CFUW Kanata is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization and if you subscribe to the philosophy of our club, you are eligible to become a member. You do not need to be a university graduate to join, and new members are always welcome.

Starting Out:
CFUW/Kanata started in1995, and since then, we have worked with the more than 100 other CFUW clubs in Canada to improve the status of women and to promote human rights, public education, and social justice. Currently, CFUW/Kanata has approximately 125 members and we meet each month on the second Tuesday from September to April (excluding January). Meetings are held at 70A Stonehaven Drive, in Kanata and usually start at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to attend one of our meetings as a guest to get to know us better. At most meetings, you will enjoy a presentation by a dynamic speaker on a current topic.

Benefits of membership:
While fulfilling our passion to improve the status of women in society, we also provide an excellent opportunity for members to network and develop friendships, and engage in a wide range of social activities. These include various arts, current issues, physical fitness, challenging card games, visits to places of interest, book clubs, and gourmet dining. In addition, throughout the year we organize events such as “Enchanted Mosaic...an evening with the Arts” This is an exciting evening where we showcase talented community performers and artists. Our December holiday dinner and dance features fine food and wonderful camaraderie for the young at heart. Our spring Coffee House is where friends and family join us for lively entertainment with gourmet coffee and home-baked sweet treats. At our Annual General Meeting we bring the year to a close over dinner with lively entertainment, guest speakers, performances by our own Guitar Groovers, and special recognition or awards for some of our club members.

We are extremely grateful to all our members who volunteer their time and talents, and make it possible for us to support local youth with scholarships to colleges and universities.

Upcoming Events:
We are honored to be hosting the Ontario East “Fall Gathering” on October 22nd.  We hope you will join us and participants from across the eastern region of our province for an exceptional day of workshops focusing on the theme of “Women Effecting Change".

Stay in touch:
This website is your CFUW Kanata newspaper for everything that is going on or will happen in the coming months. So, we encourage you to check it out frequently and stay up-to-date with our activities, information, and stories.

We are CFUW Kanata - a club of some pretty wonderful women who seem to always find time to do incredible acts of kindness in our community and in our nation!

We look forward to seeing you out ‘n about very soon.
